Kari Lehtonen, who did not play in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Chicago, stopped 36 shots for the Stars. He has stopped 113-of-117 shots so far this season. New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Rangers have claimed defenseman Jeff Woywitka off waivers from the Montreal Canadiens. Woywitka, 28, registered two goals and nine assists in 63 games last season with the Dallas Stars. Originally taken 27th overall by Philadelphia in the 2001 NHL Draft, Woywitka has eight goals and 41 assists in 251 career games with the St. Louis Blues and Stars.

Staios had been attending the Islanders training camp on a tryout basis and appeared in each of their three preseason games before inking the deal. The Hamilton, Ontario native was drafted in 1991 by the St. Louis Blues and has played in 936 career NHL games for Boston, Vancouver, Atlanta, Edmonton and Calgary.
